Tricia Helfer is best known for playing the humanoid Cylon Number Six in Ronald D. Moore’s re-imagined Battlestar Galactica television series.
Battlestar Galactica is a franchise of American sci-fi films and television series, the first of which was produced in 1978. A series of book adaptations, original novels, comic books, and video games have also been based on the concept. All of the Battlestar Galactica productions share the same premise: A civilization of humans lives on planets in a distant part of the universe. “The Twelve Colonies” have been at war with a cybernetic race known as the “Cylons.” The Cylons launch a sudden sneak attack on the Colonies, laying waste to the planets and devastating their populations. A few thousand survivors flee into space aboard any spacecraft they can reach, but of the entire Colonial Fleet, the Battlestar Galactica appears to be the only military ship to come through the attack. Her famed commander and crew take up the task of leading the ragtag fleet of survivors in search of a fabled refuge known as “Earth.”
